Biodiesel as an Alternative Fuel

Biodiesel fuel can be used as an alternative to petrol or diesel. Although many people are not concerned with the depleting oil reserves that form the backbone of our global economy, the fact remains that in the near future these fuel reserves are simply going to go out of existence. This is the reason that using alternative fuel sources is not just an option of the environment friendly, but it’s a vital investment in all of our financial futures.

Those that adapt to alternative fuels will save money. If you live in an area where public transportation is available in abundance then you are really one of the lucky ones since your local economy will not suffer considerably from the upcoming fuel crisis.

Most Americans easily commute 20 to 70 miles a day in their vehicles to get to their job. When one takes into account the total savings accrued due to the usage of Biodiesel as a fuel, you can easily save thousands annually. You will also be helping the environment out too!

Biodiesel offers a lot of built in advantages over other standard fossil fuels. More over, these advantages of using Biodiesel are not developed synthetically but rather they are natural and hence more environment friendly. Let’s look at some of these advantages:

1.    Biodiesel burns in a much cleaner fashion as compared to Fossil fuels which after burning releases a lot of carbon dioxide.
2.    It can be easily developed as a home made fuel which is in total contrast to fossil fuels. Moreover, since it is developed from renewable sources, the raw materials required in its production such as alcohol, vegetable oil and lye are easily available at any local grocery store.

3.    Biodiesel is also covered under warranties offered by many vehicle manufacturers. Indeed, there are some manufacturers which do not provide warranties for Biodiesel and hence you need to check the scope of your vehicle warranty with your dealer or manufacturer.

4.    Biodiesel has “official recognition” of the US government and the EPA as a usable fuel. Hence, rest assured, you will not land up in jail for producing or using Biodiesel in your own car.

5.    Using Biodiesel in your vehicle does not require any modification of your engine and hence you don’t have to be a car expert while utilizing its advantages.

6.    Production of Biodiesel in your own garage is easy and quite inexpensive. Moreover, it costs only about 70 cents a gallon to manufacture Biodiesel.
